At Village Optical, we feel it is important to give back to our local and international communities.

Recent charitable ventures include:

Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) has designated May as Eye Health Month.  Our optometrists have committed to donating $1.00 per eye examination during the month of May 2011.

Our optometrists have increased their support to the CNIB, donating $2 per eye exam throughout the month of May 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Optometry Giving Sight is our international charity of choice.  Each October we participate in World Sight Day.  Our optometrists have committed to donating eye examination fees on World Sight Day for the past six years.

Optometry Giving Sight funds programs that offer not only eye exams and glasses in countries with little or no access to them, but also establish the infrastructure and human resources required for sustainable, quality vision care.

This past May, our optometrists attended the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation’s Fundraising Gala, “Black Tie Bingo”

Dr. Georgi currently chairs the gala organization committee (2014 & 2015).  The gala is the largest fundraiser for the Misericordia Health Centre.

We are excited to have played a role in raising funds for Misericordia Health Centre’s exciting vision health projects, and join MHC in anticipating the opening of their new Buhler Eye Care Centre.

The Buhler Eye Care Centre is a state-of-the-art facility, the largest eye care centre in Western Canada.  Opening this year, it will provide services including exams and surgeries, be the home of the Lion’s Eye Bank for eye transplants, and house Manitoba’s Ophthalmology Student Residency program.

By supporting MHC Foundation and the Buhler Eye Care Centre, we are enabling Manitobans to have access to increased vision care without leaving the province.

Village Optical has also been a long time supporter of the St Vital Victorias Hockey team.

givingbackEye Care Missions - Dr. Loewen travelled to Jamaica in February of 2011 and February of 2012 as part of an eye care team with Canadian Vision Care (CVC) to deliver desperately needed eye care services to underprivileged regions of the country.

Siloam Mission - Eye Care Clinic

Drs. Livingstone, Georgi, and Loewen all donate their time to provide free eye examinations to Winnipeg's less fortunate at the Saul Sair Health Centre at Siloam Mission in downtown Winnipeg.

Dr. Georgi was recently recognized for donating the most time of any of the eye clinic volunteers.  A big thank you to Dr. Georgi!
